Helping the community

Herts2

In April 2007 Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust initiated an independent fundraising plan to help the people of Hertfordshire finance a life-saving Air Ambulance service.

In April 2008, thanks to the people of Hertfordshire the Herts Appeal smashed its £250,000 target and plans were put in place to secure a dedicated Air Ambulance helicopter.

Thanks to the fantastic support of the people of Hertfordshire the very first Herts Air Ambulance was launched on 5th November 2008! The aircraft operates on a 5 day week basis and carries an Accident and Emergency qualified Doctor and Paramedic.

The presence of an Air Ambulance in Hertfordshire could literally be a matter of life or death for any one of its one million inhabitants.

It will take ongoing effort to keep the Air Ambulance service airborne for the future:-

Maintaining a life-saving helicopter service will cost around £80,000 per month.

Every life-saving flight costs in excess of £2,000.
